Fuel Pumps Dept: Police investigate roughly 2,400 gas drive-offs every year in Calgary, devouring precious time and resources and putting the public and proprietors at risk, Chief Rick Hanson said Monday, according to Calgary Herald. "This isn't on the cutting edge for Alberta. It just makes good sense given we have the technology to make this an easily preventable crime." To combat the rapidly growing issue of gas theft, the Alberta Association of Police Chiefs wants the province to require mandatory pay-first fuel pumps, which Calgary's top cop says is legislation that's long overdue. "It's not just the theft of gas, it's also a public safety issue," said Hanson, who is the association's president. As
