Italian Filmmaker Dept: The film, directed by Italian filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino, was honoured Saturday by the ecumenical jury. The Kaurismaki film was also honoured by FIPRESCI, a jury of international film critics, who named it the best film in the competition. Le Havre is a gentle comedy that tells the story of a shoeshine man who helps a young illegal immigrant and the Sean Penn film This Must Be The Place, about a fallen rock star who sets off on a search for his Jewish roots and maturity, has won the Cannes Film Festival award for humanist values. The ecumenical jury also gave commendations to Le Havre by Aki Kaurismaki -one of the front-runners for the festival's biggest prize, the Palme d'Or -and Et maintenant on va o ? by Nadine Labaki.
