Italian Filmmaker Dept: The film, directed by Italian filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino, was honoured Saturday by the ecumenical jury. In its commendation, it said This Must Be The Place "gracefully opens deep and serious paths of reflection.", according to Vancouver Sun. The Kaurismaki film was also honoured by FIPRESCI, a jury of international film critics, who named it the best film in the competition. Le Havre is a gentle comedy that tells the story of a shoeshine man who helps a young illegal immigrant and the Sean Penn film This Must Be The Place, about a fallen rock star who sets off on a search for his Jewish roots and maturity, has won the Cannes Film Festival award for humanist values. The ecumenical jury also gave commendations to Le Havre by Aki Kaurismaki -one of the front-runners for the festival's biggest prize, the Palme d'Or -and Et maintenant on va o ? by Nadine Labaki.
