Chinese Authorities Dept: Beijing is reported to have declared martial law over much of its northern province of Inner Mongolia after a week of unprecedented protests by members of the ethnic Mongolian minority, according to Vancouver Sun. One Mongol, known as Mergen, was killed when a truck driver rammed the demonstrators and chinese authorities are using a strategy of brute force tempered by swift justice to try to head off further demonstrations by ethnic Mongolians angered over the killing of two of their brethren by Chinese mining company employees.
