Distinctive Appearance: Carol Anne

Canadian Culture Dept: My sympathy for her dropped off dramatically when she implied that race and immigrant status played a role in this incident. She emphasized that her white, blond, distinctive appearance in the neighbourhood, and her attire made her a target. I don't believe that such behaviour is exclusive to foreigners as I have experienced when younger! and witnessed some of these obnoxious actions from native Canadians, according to Montreal Gazette. Carol Anne Nash Pincourt The writer was harassed by "foreign" men and she demanded to know why these men have not adapted to Canadian culture and customs. I think it can be assumed that many, if not most, young, attractive women have been similarly treated at some point. By interpreting this incident as a race rather than a gender problem, she is inciting the xenophobic attitudes that persist in our society. As reported in the news.
