Bilingual Programs: Language Classes

Universals Dept: This is as it should be, according to Calgary Herald. Donna Trimble, Calgary This is Canada, not Germany, China, Mexico, Spain or any Arabic nation. The immigrant populations of the past took their children to Saturday language classes to maintain their cultures and languages, and integrated the children in the schools of the countries they chose as their new homes. The CBE should dump the bilingual programs that do not entail French and English and use their stretched funds to teach reading, writing, math, universals like art, music and fitness, and provide any special supports to those students who require them so all children can succeed. Heck, how about making busing a priority, without breaking the parents' piggy banks? As reported in the news.
