"I am happy. Finally I am a Canadian citizen and I have a right to vote right now, you know. Before I was not a Canadian citizen, and I didn't have a right to vote. So I am kind of excited," she said and about 60 newly minted voters in Brooks, Alta., are set to get their first taste of Canadian democracy next week after recently taking their oaths of citizenship. Nearly one in five Brooks resident is a visible minority slightly more than the national average including new Canadian Flora Mrowil, who plans to exercise her new democratic rights on May 2.
