Immigration Minister: Summer Jobs

Wraps Dept: "Young workers can end up being employed anywhere, but it would stand to reason our focus will be on the retail, restaurant and food service sectors -wherever we think young workers will be concentrated," says Employment and Immigration Minister Thomas Lukaszuk, according to Calgary Herald. "We want to make sure our officers hit the streets as young workers are hitting the workforce this summer," Lukaszuk says and with thousands of young Albertans soon heading into summer jobs, the province is launching a focused inspection program to help keep workplaces as safe as possible. Employers are being given advance warning the inspections are coming, but exactly when and where is being kept under wraps. As reported in the news.
