George Galloway: Public Scandal

Controversial Speaker Dept: In a statement of claim filed in Toronto last week, Galloway asks for $1.5 million in damages and alleges that Kenney abused his power for political gain when he barred Galloway, causing him to be "exposed to public scandal and contempt, has undergone extreme embarrassment and ridicule.", according to Montreal Gazette. A former Labour MP in Tony Blair's government, Galloway was kicked out in 2003 for opposing the British involvement in the war in Iraq and george Galloway, the outspoken former British MP, has made good on his promise to sue Citizenship Minister Jason Kenney for defamation after the controversial speaker was barred from Canada in 2009 over concerns he supported a terrorist organization. The lawsuit alleges Galloway's privacy was breached when Citizenship and Immigration spokesperson Alykhan Velshi contacted several U.K. newspapers to alert them that Galloway had been refused entry into Canada because he supported Hamas.
