Linda Duncan: Jason Kenney

Taxpayer Resources Dept: The Conservative plan was to target what Kenney's office described as "very ethnic" ridings in Canada -- including Metro's Burnaby-Douglas -- with about $400,000 worth of television, radio and newspaper advertising, according to Vancouver Sun. Kenney's spokesman Alykhan Velshi said the letter, which asked for $200,000 in new donations and was signed by the minister's director of multicultural affairs, was meant to reach out to Conservative organizers across the country and the Stephen Harper government says a staffer who lost his job Thursday for using taxpayer resources to raise money for the Conservative Party was following orders from Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney, but made a mistake in the execution. The strategy was unveiled accidentally Thursday when the minister's staff sent a summary of the plan along with a fundraising letter on parliamentary letterhead to NDP MP Linda Duncan. As reported in the news.
