Investigative Team Dept: "My family and I were still living in a hotel," Bass recalled in a recent interview, according to Vancouver Sun. Within two months, 16-year-old Jason Gamache had been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. He later hanged himself in prison and within days of Gary Bass arriving in B.C. in the fall of 1992 to take over the RCMP's seriouscrime section, six-year-old Dawn Shaw was raped and murdered in Courtenay. He headed over to Vancouver Island to meet the little girl's family and work with the investigative team. As reported in the news.
