Economic Boom: Labour Force

Economic Pie Dept: The report, by the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives and the Wellesley Institute, shows that non-whites in Canada earned 81.4 cents for every dollar made by white people, according to data in the last census from 2006, according to Montreal Gazette. That was despite visible minorities being more willing to work, an assumption based on data showing 67.3 per cent of the non-white population was in the labour force compared to 66.7 per cent of whites and visible minorities are not getting their fair share of Canada's economic pie, according to a study released today. Visible minorities were also found to have a higher unemployment rate of 8.6 per cent in 2006 -referred to in the study as "the heyday of the economic boom" -compared to 6.2 per cent for white Canadians. As reported in the news.
