Chinese Immigrants Dept: I will be saddened the day that Ed Stelmach is no longer premier. He did a lot for me as a Filipino immigrant. My good friend, Carl Benito, was persuaded to run, and now Carl is the best MLA in the province, besides the premier. Since the premier is from a Ukrainian background, he understands and appreciates immigrants, according to Calgary Herald. Imagine that -- the first non-Canadian premier of Alberta. The son of Chinese immigrants, Norman Kwong was a great lieutenant-governor, so there is a precedent for Carl serving as our next premier. He would bring a sense of excitement to the Alberta legislature, a place that is sadly lacking it and re: "Stelmach plans autumn exit," Feb. 3. The premier realizes that while Carl has had some tax problems and issues over not giving away his salary as he promised, he is basically a very honest person and a great Filipino Catholic. It is my opinion that Carl Benito should run to replace the premier. I bet Stelmach would back him. As
reported in the news.
