Legislative Objectives Dept: In what might be his harshest criticism yet of the judiciary, Kenney said he has "real concerns" with the way the Federal Court has interpreted the laws Parliament has passed, according to Montreal Gazette. He said he fears the Balanced Refugee Reform Act will be ineffective if judges and lawyers continue usurping the power of Parliament. He said the act, which takes effect later this year and will see failed claimants deported within months rather than years, addresses a situation that's been costing taxpayers.
