Code Act Dept: Alberta law values her life at a paltry $15,000 -the maximum penalty that could be levied in the recent safety code prosecution of two culpable companies, according to Calgary Herald. Flynn Canada and Germain Residences were each fined the maximum $15,000 after they pleaded guilty to an Alberta Safety Code Act violation of allowing an unsafe condition on a work site and a little girl's life should be worth as much as a construction worker's. Yet, because three-year-old Michelle Krsek was just passing by a job site, rather than working at it, the value of her life in Alberta is 33 times less than that of a worker killed on the job. If she had been a worker killed at the site, the companies could have each been fined up to $500,000 and people deemed responsible would face up to six months in jail. As
