Some who do know want a higher profile for Canada's founding prime minister -- they are pushing a national effort to commemorate Macdonald's 200th anniversary and george Washington has his monument and a namesake national capital. Abraham Lincoln has his memorial and a namesake state capital. But who knows that Tuesday is officially Sir John A. Macdonald Day? Or that 2015 is the bicentennial of his birth?
