National Settlement: Allocations

News Conference Dept: The Conservatives are cutting national settlement funding allocations by $53 million a year, most of which is affecting newcomers in Ontario, the Liberals charged, according to The Star. This is a terrible decision. It cannot be allowed to stand and it s not too late to reverse draconian funding cuts to immigrant settlement organizations that may force some to close their doors, Liberals urged the federal government Thursday. I don t think I ve ever seen such a harsh and draconian and inexplicable cut to the most vulnerable people in our midst, Toronto MP Bob Rae said at a news conference. As reported in the news.
