Immigration: Citizenship Papers

Norwegian Town Dept: He had ventured into his grandmother's attic in his small Norwegian town one day and found a mysterious suitcase. It contained Calgary bank statements, a passport, citizenship papers, business contracts, a miner's certificate from British Columbia and a handful of photos, according to Calgary Herald. In the isolated Norwegian town of Landaasbygda, even Oslo seemed like an exotic locale to young Hans, now an award-winning journalist and talk-show host in his home country. So Alberta might as well have been the magical Land of Oz and for Hans Olav Brenner, the obsession with Alberta began when he was 12 years old and found a faded, black-and-white photograph of his grandfather in an unfamiliar landscape. It all suggested that his long-dead grandfather -- also named Hans Brenner -- had spent more than a decade on the windswept Prairies of Alberta. Apparently, it was a period of his life that he never spoke about with his family. As reported in the news.
