"I think the jury chose me to convince the skeptics that miracles do happen," said first-time writer Kim Thuy, whose semi-autobiographical, first-person novel Ru, about Vietnamese immigrant "boat people," won for French fiction and eight Quebecers -a novelist, a poet, a playwright, a historian, a children's book author and her illustrator, and two translators -are among the 14 winners of the 2010 Governor General's Literary Awards announced yesterday.
