Cabinet Shuffle: Immigration Minister

Montreal Gazette Dept: The hearings came to a sudden halt in June and were to resume on Aug. 15, noted Louise Beaudoin, the Parti Quebecois critic on the issue, according to Montreal Gazette. Instead, Kathleen Weil, who introduced Bill 94 when she was justice minister, remains sponsor of the bill, even though she now is immigration minister and hearings resumed yesterday on Bill 94, which would ban the wearing of the Islamic niqab face veil and burqa by women either working in Quebec's public sector or receiving health, education or government services. But they were put on hold because of a cabinet shuffle, which saw Jean-Marc Fournier named justice minister, responsible for the bill. As reported in the news.
