Prime Minister Stephen Harper's government should recommend structural changes in the existing provisions of the immigration law so that they are made both "fast and fair," and reflect contemporary realities, according to Montreal Gazette. While the laws should be amended to severely punish the "people smugglers," it should at the same time be made flexible enough to allow the healthy elders join their families, already living in Canada, and also encourage young skilled people and entrepreneurs, to enter as immigrants.
