Toronto City Hall: Howard Moscoe

Floor Mezzanine Dept: The gallery would be the perfect way to get the city excited about the Toronto Museum, which is slated to open in the Old City Hall once the courts close there in 2018, said Councillor Howard Moscoe, who came up with the Ward Gallery idea and has been spearheading plans for the space, according to Globe And Mail. A new report prepared for the economic development committee recommends the city dedicate the currently unoccupied third floor space looking out on to the rooftop garden to the project and help raise the money to fund it and two years from now – should all go as planned – the third floor mezzanine of Toronto City Hall will become an ode to those immigrants in the form of The Ward Gallery of Immigration, a project to pay tribute to the city’s history as a destination for newcomers. “Toronto’s a city of immigrants and this will celebrate that immigrant status,” he said. As reported in the news.
