Taser International: Supreme Court Judge

Vancouver Sun Dept: "Obviously, I am very pleased," said retired justice Thomas Braidwood, who presided over the inquiry into the October 2007 death of Robert Dziekanski at the Vancouver airport, shortly after the decision was released. "The court found there was fairness in the report for Taser International. They had full opportunity to present evidence.", according to Vancouver Sun. "It is quite clear to me that there were presentations made to the commissioner by medical experts and others to the effect that such weapons can cause serious harm and even death in exceptional circumstances," said Sewell, in the decision and a B.C. Supreme Court judge on Tuesday tossed out a legal challenge by Taser International, finding no merit in its bid to overturn a conclusion in the report by the Braidwood Inquiry that found stun guns increase the risk of fatal heart failure. Justice Robert Sewell found no merit in the Arizona-based company's argument that the report was unreasonable in concluding that conducted energy weapons can cause death. As reported in the news.
