Tamil Refugees: Immigration

Political Influence Dept: Jodi Miller, Calgary, according to Calgary Herald and it's interesting to read how up in arms many are about the Tamil refugees. "Terrorists" and "immigrants" -- words that now are equated with the "unwanted," spoken by people in a country that is made up of almost 90 per cent immigrants who fled here to find a better life. No Canadians can look themselves in the mirror and not acknowledge that they come from immigrant stock, unless they are among the First Nations. We add the label "terrorist" these days with far too much political influence and not enough real information. Today a group is a "terrorist organization" and tomorrow we are trying to arrange trade agreements with them. This country is a far greater nation because we are made up of immigrants, and so I say, Welcome to Canada! May we show you the kindness and graciousness we are known around the world for, and may you bless us with diversity and the opportunity to experience what you have to offer. As reported in the news.
