New Language Dept: Less than two weeks before her 4-year-old daughter, Kirsty, is supposed to start kindergarten in a "classe d'accueil," Julie Tytler still doesn't know to which school she has been assigned, according to Montreal Gazette. Meanwhi le, Kirsty's friends who are headed to kindergarten in the English school board have visited their classrooms and met their teachers, Tytler said and a Montreal mother says "welcome classes" at the city's French-language public schools are anything but welcoming to children who are new to the system. "She's going from daycare into a new school in a new language. It's scary enough but she's not even been able to go in and meet staff because we just don't know what school it is," Tytler said.
