Federation Of Labour Dept: Among the 10 initiatives outlined by Minister of Employment and Immigration Thomas Lukaszuk Friday, the province will immediately implement updated compliance and enforcement procedures, hire eight additional Occupational Health and Safety officers, and introduce what it calls an easy-to-understand online template for posting safety records, according to CTV. But some feel Lukaszuk isn't telling the whole story. Gil McGowan with the Alberta Federation of Labour says the promised version of detailed information online really isn't that detailed and the province announced a new plan to improve the accountability of its Occupational Health and Safety program. The multiple-initiative plan includes posting safety records for all Alberta companies online. "I think all workers ought to be protected so that's why we're releasing track records of all companies. Before you apply for a job with a company or if you are already working for a certain company, or as a company if you are sub contracting some work to another sub contractor, now you will have the ability to look at the whole list," said Lukaszuk.
