Employment Council Dept: The Globe is pleased to welcome a roundtable to discuss the issue during our online Q&A, starting at 3 p.m. ET today, according to Globe And Mail. Joan Atlin is program director for the Toronto and Region Immigrant Employment Council. The group tries to connect new Torontonians with resources to help them enter the job market and use their credentials. This includes providing links to training, mentorships, recruiting agencies and employers and the study found that although Toronto’s immigrants are better educated and wealthier than ever before, they’re making less - compared with Canadian-born workers - than they were in 1980. That’s costing Toronto as much as $2.25-billion annually, the report estimated. Carol Wilding is president and CEO of the Toronto Board of Trade. The board’s ongoing “Vote Toronto 2010” series aims to press the mayoral candidates on issues the business group feels are important. The board published its social cohesion report - which includes the findings about Toronto's integration of newcomers - on Thursday. As
reported in the news.
