Sound Waves Dept: Even the atmosphere at the company’s Oakville office feels cool and calm. The secret is a technology called white noise, Mr. Mathur says, which is basically a sound reduction system that plays through the speakers and vents as a “dull lull.”, according to The Globe and Mail. “I love living my life under a calming philosophy because life – and entrepreneurship – is tough,” says Mr. Mathur, 46, who also finds constant exercise to be soothing. He usually starts his day with a run or a workout with a personal trainer who visits his house a few times a week or by playing hockey and it’s a phrase heard often by the management teams at Next Pathway Inc., a Toronto-based technology consulting and private equity investment firm. The company’s CEO, Chetan Mathur, says the term in Hindi means “Peace, be cool.” It neutralizes sound waves so that if there are a few people standing three metres apart, it’s very difficult to hear each other’s conversations. It also works well in the bullpen area where the consultants work, Mr. Mathur says, so that nobody is disrupted by someone on the phone or by people in the kitchen area, an inviting hub where employees can meet informally.
