Leon Mugesera: Deportation From Canada

Rwanda Dept: After a brief hearing Monday, Immigration and Refugee Commissioner Dianne Tordorf ruled Mugesera might flee if not held. The detention will be reviewed again in seven days, according to Vancouver Sun and leon Mugesera, wanted in Rwanda on charges of inciting the 1994 genocide, must stay detained until a final decision is made on his deportation from Canada. Mugesera, along with his wife and five children, was accepted in Canada as a permanent resident in 1993 but he was stripped of that status when it was discovered he lied on his application form, and replied "no" to the question asking if he'd been involved in crimes against humanity. Mugesera is alleged to have made a speech in 1992 in Rwanda inciting the majority Hutus to kill the minority Tutsis and throw them into the river. div (www.immigrantscanada.com).
