Ebrahim Toure: Ont ., and Star Investigation

ebrahim toure: Ebrahim Toure, a 46-year-old failed refugee claimant who was profiled earlier this year as part of a Star investigation into immigration detention, has been locked up at Central East Correctional Centre in Lindsay, Ont., since February, 2013, according to Toronto Star. He says he was born in The Gambia, but he doesn't have any documentation to prove his citizenship so the country will not take him back. Toure is not considered a danger to the public. Immigration officials accuse Toure of not co-operating, but he says he would like to be deported and he has given the government all the information he has. He is being detained solely on the grounds that the government believes he is unlikely to show up if they can ever arrange his deportation. (www.immigrantscanada.com). As reported in the news.
