National Unemployment Rate Dept: The unemployment rate in the territory was at 7.8 per cent in June down from 9.8 per cent in May. The national unemployment rate is 7.2 per cent, according to CBC. The Employment Central office in Whitehorse was busy last week, with half a dozen job-seekers checking out what was available. The office manager, Carol Corbet, said there is work out there and the number of people looking for work in the Yukon is up, but the unemployment rate is slightly down.
