Huntingdon: Anglophones

Substantial Minority Dept: The flamboyant mayor of Huntingdon is really stating the obvious when he says a small town with a substantial minority of anglophones should be allowed to send out town information in both English and French. That's reasonable, according to Montreal Gazette. Why? Because he is French. So, hats off to Gendron, even if he is a media hog, even if it is inflammatory to call the language laws racist. And language hawks "insecure and culturally deprived." If Gendron has both Huntingdon's anglos and francophones behind him on this one, I would consider that a major step up in the language debate. Hats off to Huntingdon and three cheers for Mayor St phane Gendron. Gendron can tell the media whatever he likes about francophone anxieties and Bill 101 militants. (www.immigrantscanada.com). As reported in the news.
