The workers union said it still needs more people hired to deal with the waiting claims, according to CBC. They were also told Service Canada plans to add another 10 short-term, casual, employees across the Atlantic Region to catch up on processing a backlog of thousands of claims and service Canada has approved overtime hours for P.E.I. staff to clear a huge backlog of employment insurance claims. Late Wednesday, the Canada Employment and Immigration Union was told P.E.I. staff who process EI claims have each been authorized to work 12 hours of overtime this week. (www.immigrantscanada.com).
