This week, Premier Greg Selinger s New Democrats won a fourth-straight majority government in Manitoba and Premier Robert Ghiz s Liberals won their second majority in a row on Prince Edward Island and oTTAWA It has been a good year for parties in power. Canadians stuck with governing parties in a federal election and a spate of provincial votes. The come-from-behind, squeaker of a Liberal victory defied pollsters who, in the early days of the campaign, predicted a Progressive Conservative government at Queen s Park. The streak started when Prime Minister Stephen Harper s Conservatives won their coveted majority on May 2. In every vote since, the party in power has stayed there.
